Minutes of The Special Price City Council Meeting

 1.         WORKSHOP - Budget For FY2002/2003

The Council met in a workshop to review employee costs of medical, dental, life insurance, etc. for the FiscalYear 2002-2003. Pat reviewed the requests for new positions in Administration, Fire Department, Police Department, Shop, Parks, Pool, and the Library. Promotions was also discussed. The wages for the proposed new employees total $122, 400 and the benefits total $68,064. Total cost for increased employee wages and benefits total $300,000, which includes the proposed new employees. The wage adjustments reflect a 2% cost of living and 2% merit. This year the percentage of benefits as compared to wages is 49%. Last year they were 47%. Employee costs of the total budget is $1,714,000.

It was recommended that the positions deemed least important at this time were in the Fire Department, Police Department and Administration. The Council will continue to look at those requested in the Parks, Pool, Shop and Library.

Another workshop was scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 7:00 a.m.
