 1.         WORKSHOP - Vision and Mission Statement And Core Values

Mayor Piccolo welcomed department supervisors and introduced Kresha Eastman. Ms. Eastman has been meeting with the Council to assist them in developing ideas of who Price City is, where we are going and what we do. These are vision and mission statements.

Mayor Piccolo explained the City’s Vision Statement - “A progressive, friendly community dedicated to excellence in service to its citizens, employees and visitors”. The City’s Mission Statement - “To protect and promote the welfare of all citizens by ensuring exceptional service and leadership through communication, cooperation and creativity”. The City’s Core Values - Employees who uphold the highest professional standards; honesty and integrity in all we do; involved, responsible citizens; our rich cultural heritage and diversity; a clean, friendly pleasing environment; our resource-based lifestyle and the unique opportunities it provides; an open-minded, progressive approach to addressing challenges and change; our businesses and the strong economy they create; leaders who listen and citizens who provide input; citizens committed to creating positive change; citizens who seek solutions to local problems; and a strong sense of right from wrong. Mayor Piccolo asked several supervisors for their input and what they felt about the above statements. Mayor Piccolo asked the supervisors to develop their own department mission statements.

Kresha Eastman stated that the Mayor and City Council has spent a lot of time determining where the City is going, what it stands for, and what it is going to look like in the future. They feel that they have the best employees anywhere in the world and want them to be a part of this process.

Ms. Eastman presented and discussed the City’s priority issues, goals and draft objectives - (1) Increased implementation of good ideas; (2) Develop a comprehensive economic development plan; (3) Improve general appearance of Price City; (4) Increase quality growth in housing and commercial ventures in areas within the City where existing infrastructure is in place; (5) Improve image of Price City by people on the Wasatch Front and neighboring residents (other Carbon County communities and neighboring counties, and (6) Develop systematic communication process between City leaders and citizens. With each of these goals is a list of tasks (ideas only) that will assist in meeting the goal. The Council is going to ask each supervisor to take some of these goals and draft objectives and come up with a solution to solve them.

The Council scheduled another meeting to be held Thursday, May 9, at 1:00 p.m. at the Public Works Complex. Each supervisor was asked to select the goals and tasks that they feel they can accomplish. Supervisors can ask local citizens to assist.
