Minutes of The Special Price City Council Meeting

City Hall: Price, Utah

June 8, 2005, 1:00 p.m.

Present:

Mayor Joe L. Piccolo Pat Larsen, Finance Director

Councilmembers: Gary Sonntag, Public Works Director/City Engineer

Betty P. Wheeler Nick Tatton, Community Director

Richard Tatton John Daniels, Human Resource Director

Jeanne McEvoy Bret Cammans, Customer Services Director

Mae Aguayo Aleck Shilaos, Chief of Police

Excused: Councilmember Stephen L. Denison

1. WORKSHOP

The Council met with David Church, attorney for the Utah League of Cities and Towns. Mayor Piccolo was excused at this time. The Council discussed their roles and their legal responsibilities relating to the management of the City. Price City is not organized like a government entity, but rather as a business. The Council is the board and the Mayor is the Chief Officer with all staff reporting to the Mayor.

Mayor Piccolo joined the meeting at 2:15 p.m. The group discussed the duties of the Mayor and the relationship between the Council and the Mayor. The lead supervisors joined the meeting at 3:00 p.m. The responsibilities of the Mayor and Council was then reviewed with the supervisors.

Meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
