Minutes of The Special Price City Council Meeting

Public Works Complex: Price, Utah

September 9, 2002, 2:00 p.m.

1.                  WORKSHOP - Mission and Vision Statements, Goal and Draft Objectives - Progress Check

 

Mayor Piccolo welcomed the employees to the workshop to discuss what the various committees have accomplished and the results of their goals and objectives.  He turned the time over to Kresha Eastman.

 

Kresha stated that the 6 different teams will review their goals and the tasks necessary to achieve their goal.

 

Councilmember Wheeler reported on Goal #3, to improve the general appearance of Price City.  Her groups first objective was looking at blight.  She reviewed what had been done and what is planned for the future.

 

Councilmember Denison reported on Goal #1, to increase implementation of good ideas.  His group is in the process of placing suggestion boxes at strategic locations (time clocks) asking for employee suggestions.

 

Mayor Piccolo reported on the results of the Goal #2 committee, to develop a comprehensive Economic Development plan.

 

Jerry Wright reported on Councilmember Kourianos= Goal #4, to increase quality growth in housing and commercial ventures in areas within the City where existing infrastructure is in place.  Francis Duzenack and Gary Sonntag are working on zoning issues, new projects, housing, economic procedures to develop, and a general plan for both commercial and residential.

 

Nick Tatton reported on Goal #6, to develop a systematic communication process between city leaders and citizens.  A newsletter has been established which will be issued quarterly.

 

Nick Tatton reported further on Goal #2.  He has set up a regular news release at the radio stations.  The Thursday following the Council meetings, the Mayor or a Councilmember is interviewed regarding that particular meeting.  He is in the process of developing a column in the local newspaper for City items.  He has established the Visionary Service Leader Award, where an individual is recognized for his/her special accomplishments for the City.  He is trying to establish strategy where the residents will recognize employees as community resources.

 

The next meeting will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at 2:00 p.m.
